Cleaning Instructions - Nebulizer
When cleaning a nebulizer either disposable
or re-usable it is extremely important to clean them after each
and every use. The effectiveness and re-infection is directly
dependent on your cleaning technique.
After completion of your treatment, rinse
all the medication out of the cup.
Disassemble the mouthpiece, medication cup (include the baffle
in the cup) and "tee" piece.
Soak in a warm soapy solution, agit
ate with gentle motion, rinse
and let it air dry.
Once dry re-assemble for next treatment. (if treatments are frequent
open two kits and rotate, while one is drying the other can be
used)
Disinfection:
Once a week soak the disassembled parts
in a warm water/white vinegar solution (one part vinegar/four
part water) for 30 minutes, rinse and air dry.
If you are using a re-usable nebulizer
you may substitute boiling your nebulizer instead of the vinegar/water
solution method. Please consult the manufactures guidelines for
what parts can be boiled.
(There are different methods and solutions
to achieve a disinfection process, we have found this to be the
easiest for most people. Consult your physician or homecare consultant
for different methods)
